The BJP on Saturday continued its attack on Rahul Gandhi for his remarks,as revealed by the latest US Embassy cables released by WikiLeaks, accusing the Congress general secretary of irresponsible talk that was helping Pakistan.
In a conversation between Rahul and US envoy Timothy Roemer, released by WikiLeaks on Friday, the Congress leader is believed to have said that radicalised Hindu groups could pose a bigger threat than outfits like Lashkar-e-Toiba.
Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi said that such comments on Hindu groups could have influenced US policies in favour of Pakistan.
Responding to a question on Rahuls comments,Modi said he often wondered why America supported Pakistan despite the widely acknowledged fact of terrorism. It is now clear who was prompting USA to speak in favour of Pakistan, Modi said, without naming Rahul.
The world was convinced that Pakistan promotes terrorism, that they train terrorists. Terrorism is the biggest export industry for them8230;. Now with the Wikileaks release,it is known who was guiding the US and providing information about Pakistan, based on which America made an opinion about the country8230; this is the biggest loss for the country, he added.
Separately, senior BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu attacked Rahul and other Congressmen for their remarks over Hindu terror.
Congress leader Digvijay Singh said things about the Batla House encounter8230; then he made a statement about slain ATS chief Hemant Karkare. Now,Rahul has made these remarks8230; All these are in the same vein, he said. Such irresponsible and immature talk is strengthening Pakistans case and weakening Indias fight against terror, he said. It is Pakistans long term plan of aiding, abetting and funding terrorism8230; they want to subvert India.
Naidu said the Congress leadership, during its plenary session in Delhi from Sunday, should introspect whether they are following the footsteps of their great leaders and living up to the expectations from the party.
