Rituparno Ghoshs Nouka Dubi is to have its world premiere at IFFI,Goa and will be the opening film of the India Premier Section on November 24. Being made in Bengali and Hindi,the movie, presented by Mukta Searchlight Films and produced by Subhash Ghai,stars Prosenjit Chatterjee,Jisshu Sengupta,Raima Sen and Riya Sen. The entire cast and crew will be present at the premiere that will also mark the celebration of Rabindranath Tagores 150th anniversary.
The film is slated for theatrical release worldwide in January 2011 in both the versions.
Shravan Shroff honoured
Shravan Shroff,Managing Director,Fame Cinemas received the 2010 Alumni Excellence Commendation for Media and Entertainment. The award was given by Australian High Commissioner to India,Peter M Varghese,at a ceremony held on October 11 at the Australian Embassy,New Delhi.
During the ceremony,awards were presented to individuals with respect to their academic achievements and professional pursuits since studying in Australia.
Shravan Shroff,who never imagined such an award in excellence would be bestowed upon him during his Business Management studies at the Melbourne Business School in Australia,says,I received a personal letter from the Dean of the University stating they had been following my career-graph and were pleased with my achievements in the area of media and entertainment. The award ceremony was a very elegant affair held at the Australian Embassy in Delhi. Peter M Varghese gave the awards away to many other Indians like me who have received education in Australia.
Jai ho at Asian Games ceremony
The closing ceremony of the 16th Asian Games to be held at Guangzhou,China,will have a pinch of Bollywood flavour as the audiences will get a chance to dance to the tunes of A. R. Rahmans Jai ho.
Ravi K Tripathi,a young singer from Lucknow,has been specially invited by the Guangzhou Asian Games Opening and Closing Ceremonies Operation Centre to perform on the closing day on November 27. Ravi is the sole Indian artiste to be performing at one of the biggest sports extravaganzas in Asia.
NGO organises 4-day film festival
A four-day film festival portraying success stories of disabled persons was held in Shimla,coinciding with Childrens Day,November 14. The festival screened 19 nationally and internationally awarded short duration films,and was organised by Umang Foundation,an NGO working for the cause of Children with special needs CWSN,in collaboration with state Art and Cultural and languages department and a Delhi-based NGO Brother hood.
Harud,Shorr at Dubai Film Fest
Hindi films Shorr and Aamir Bashirs Harud along with Aparna Sens Bengali film Iti Mrinalini are some of the Indian movies that will be screened at the Dubai International Film Festival DIFF that will be held from December 12 to 19. From south India,veteran director Shyama Prasads new drama Elektra will have its international premiere at DIFF 2010. Indian writer-director Ashvin Kumars Inshallah,Football will feature in the in-competition documentary. Also included is Khule Darwaaze Open Doors,a short by Ashish Pande,a graduate from Satyajit Ray Film amp; Television Institute. Additional selections from India will be announced in coming weeks.
