No action against CM for now

The party should not take any action against the CM until it studies the Justice M B Shah Commission report, he said.

In a breather for Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamat, besieged by allegations of aiding a multi-crore mining scam,Congress chief Sonia Gandhis emissary Jagmeet Brar has ruled out any immediate action against him.

Brar, who met party legislators over the past two days,is expected to submit his report on allegations against Kamat to the high command on Friday. The party should not take any action against the CM until it studies the Justice M B Shah Commission report, he said.

Kamat was mines minister from 1999 to 2004 in successive BJP governments. In 2005,he defected to Congress and held the portfolio under Pratapsingh Rane. He kept the ministry with him after becoming CM in 2007.

Brar, however, admitted to excessive mining. Resources have been plundered but we will take a sensible approach and not condemn anyone until the Shah report is out. Brar added the party can take action and order a CBI inquiry if needed, depending on the Shah report.
