New central scheme to strengthen statistics

The government has approved a new scheme India Statistical Strengthening Project ISSP as a centrally-sponsored scheme. The scheme has been formulated by the ministry of statistics amp; programme implementation under Sriprakash Jaiswal. A total estimated cost of Rs 650.43 crore has been approved for the scheme,80 per cent of which would be funded by a World Bank loan and 20 per cent by the government.
