Nepal president removes PM from post

A communique from the presidents office said that Bhattarai ceased to be the prime minister as he was no longer a member of the House.

President Ram Baran Yadav on Tuesday removed Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai from his post,but asked him to continue as a caretaker till an alternative arrangement is made.

The presidents announcement came a day after Bhattarai said he would continue as a full-fledged prime minister even though Parliament has been dissolved over its inability to deliver a new constitution by the May 27 deadline. A communique from the presidents office said that Bhattarai ceased to be the prime minister as he was no longer a member of the House.

Meanwhile,a cautious New Delhi on Tuesday hoped that all political parties in Nepal would continue to be guided by the spirit of consensus and peaceful dialogue. The Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said Tuesday,We are closely monitoring developments in Nepal.
