Nawada: Curfew relaxed for I-Day

Even though curfew was relaxed in Nawada for two hours on Wednesday,Bihar government is not likely to take any chances

Even though curfew was relaxed in Nawada for two hours on Wednesday,Bihar government is not likely to take any chances. Though there will be no curfew between 5 am and 12 midnight tomorrow in view of Independence Day,forces will not be moved from the town.

Nawada district magistrate Aadesh Titarmare said: “We will review law and order during relaxation of curfew on Thursday. It the situation remains peaceful curfew will be lifted. Forces, however, will remain posted at Nawada”.

Policemen deployed to monitor situation said they had to be cautious and alert. A senior police officer said,“Tackling the situation during a curfew — when the police have all the powers — is easier than in normal condition when questions are asked for taking action.”

The dominant feeling of Nawada residents is that the state government would have to “strike balance in its dealing with Hindus and Muslims to restore communal harmony” in Nawada.
