MUMBAI: Navys marine commandos on Wednesday foiled a pirate attack on merchant ship MV BBC Orinoco about 450 nautical miles off Mumbai,a Defence spokesperson said on on Thursday. After receiving a distress signal,the Navy promptly detached one of its Missile Corvettes to intercept the distressed vessel and also sailed capital ship INS Delhi with a team of commandos.

Rakhi Sawant taken to court for insaf

LUCKNOW: A case was on Friday registered in Jhansi against Rakhi Sawant,host of TV show Rakhi ka Insaaf,and others for allegedly humiliating a participant and causing his death later. ADG Brij Lal said one Savitri has lodged a complaint that Sawant humiliated her son Lakshman on the show where he had gone with wife Anita on October 23. Savitri said her son fell ill after returning home and died on November 9.

HC dismisses Tiwari petition on fine

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Friday dismissed veteran Congress leader N D Tiwaris petition challenging imposition of Rs 75,000 as cost on him for seeking deletion of certain paragraphs from a paternity suit filed against him by a man claiming to be his biological son. The court also refused to allow him to amend his plea in which he had opposed the claim in the paternity suit.

Granted bail,Rathore out of Burail jail

CHANDIGARH: After spending 170 days in prison,ex-Haryana DGP S P S Rathore was released from Burail jail Friday evening. Rathore,68,refused to speak to the mediapersons. Earlier in the day,wife Abha Rathore furnished a bail bond of Rs 1 lakh in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate J S Sidhu.
