Mumbai Cong president Kripashankar faces axe

While Singh survived many a controversy in the past, sources said, the BMC poll was his endgame.

Mumbai Regional Congress Committee president Kripashankar Singh looks set to get the axe following the partys dismal show in the Mumbai civic polls despite the alliance with the Nationalist Congress Party. While Singh survived many a controversy in the past, sources said, the BMC poll was his endgame.

Asked about Kripashankars fate,AICC in-charge of party affairs in Maharashtra Mohan Prakash denied comment, though he conceded that it will be a bindoo point when the party sits to do an analysis of the results. He attributed the loss to low mobilisation even as he added that those who won Shiv Sena and BJP also witnessed a fall in numbers. The Congress, with the NCP,would control three-four corporations,he said. Sources said Maharashtra was peculiar while it could win Assembly and Parliamentary polls in urban areas,it could not do as well in civic polls.
