Faced with growing demand for power in Madhya Pradesh,the state government today decided to purchase power from two private companies.

8220;The State Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan decided to purchase 1241 MW power from Reliance Power and 150 MW from Essar Power at Rs 2.45 per unit to meet the rising demand for electricity,8221; Parliamentary Affairs Minister Narottam Mishra told reporters after the meeting.

To ensure stability in supply of power,the cabinet has also decided to ink a 25-year agreement with the two companies in this regard,he said.

Referring to the proposed Goods and Service Tax GST,the implementation of which has become uncertain owing to opposition from many states,Mishra informed that the state would urge the Centre to consider an alternate scheme suggested by it on the issue and decided to oppose the proposed Constitutional Amendment Bill in this regard.

Among other major decisions taken at today8217;s cabinet meet include the approval to buy new vehicles for High Court Judges,providing laptops and broadband facility to judges and providing enhanced salary and allowances to the subordinate court employees,he said.

Besides,the Cabinet has also decided to upgrade many high schools to higher secondary schools and middle schools to high schools and sanctioned large number of posts of teachers in various schools,he said.
