Missing persons kin slam CM statement

APDP believes that Omar Abdullahs statement created an impression of him being an advocate of the culpable armed forces personnel as opposed to the representative of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Association of Parents of Disappeared Persons APDP has rejected Chief Minister Omar Abdullah statement in the Assembly on Tuesday regarding the unmarked graves, terming it hurtful and amounts to trivialising a serious issue of enforced disappearances and unmarked graves.

Omar Abdullah is undermining the credibility of the investigation carried out by his own state institution and trivialising our work without any credible evidence to substantiate his argument, said spokesperson for APDP Yaseen Hassan Malik. APDP believes that Omar Abdullahs statement created an impression of him being an advocate of the culpable armed forces personnel as opposed to the representative of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

The association has also questioned the Chief Ministers statement that there are no mass graves in the Valley. We would like to ask him how he knows that, Malik said.

Is he relying on the inputs of armed forces and police who have been responsible for disappearances? he asked.

The association demanded that the DNA sampling be done by an expert international group. We have submitted a list of 1,417 cases where families are willing to cooperate in DNA profiling. But sampling by those agencies that are already discredited will not help.
