Megamind

Megamind is bright and funny, despite borrowings from recent animated films such as The Incredibles with its superpowers and Despicable Me with its villain.

This 3D animated superhero comedy is directed by Tom McGrath, where 3D has been used to maximum advantage. The beginnings and some of the plotline has leanings to Superman.

A blue child is born on a distant planet, packed into a rocket ship and blasted off to Earth, just like the Man Of Steel. En route,he meets his Nemesis,a golden child who lands on Earth and in the lap of wealth. The blue child lands in a prison and is raised by hardened convicts.

As they grow up,these two super-beings are destined to play crucial roles in Metro City, where theyre named Megamind and Metro Man. While Superman was given his name by Lois Lane, here the story of the two superbeings is covered by a TV reporter named Roxanne Ritchi. Roxannes cameraman,Hal later morphs into yet a third super-being named Titan.

It is universally acknowledged that a hero requires a villain, and Megamind has some fun by depriving Megamind of Metro Man. Left without an opponent,he loses his zeal for evil-doing,and actually clones Titan to cure his loneliness. All of this of course is accomplished with much slapstick and sensational action.

Megamind is bright and funny, despite borrowings from recent animated films such as The Incredibles with its superpowers and Despicable Me with its villain. It is an amusing family entertainment with clever dialogue. The 3-D is the USP as it makes you want to duck for cover.

Will Ferrell is a treat with dry one-liners,Brad Pitt plays up Metro Mans dreamy quality,Fey adds a good dose of witty charm, and there is strong support from David Cross as Megaminds aquatic minion named Minion and Jonah Hill as Roxannes doe-eyed sidekick.

Director Tom McGrath has kept the narrative pace flowing and brisk. Children and the child in each adult will love Megamind.

The 3 D version is a must.
