Rejecting the conspiracy theories revolving around last months Bastar attack that killed 27 persons, including some of the top Chhattisgarh Congress leaders, the top leadership of the Maoists has questioned the media coverage of their activities and expressed weariness at making it to the headlines only after such incidents.
What we really want to draw the attention of the people to is the perplexing way in which democracy comes up for discussion only when such attacks happen…. In fact,we are also weary of the manner in which we Maoists also make headlines only during such incidents. So for a change, why dont we look at what is happening as a routine in our daily lives to make democracy or Maoism a topic of everyday relevance? said Abhay, spokesperson for the Central Committee of the CPI(Maoist),in a statement.
He pointed at the meeting on internal security and the all-party meet held after the May 25 attack that described the Bastar incident as a direct attack on democracy and freedom.
Democracy? Freedom? Whose and what for? Better ask the women who were raped/gang raped and/or killed and the children who have been witnessing and are even victims of atrocities/massacres that are being committed by vigilante gangs like SJ and armed forces on their families and villages, he said.
Rejecting the conspiracy theories behind the Bastar attack,he said these are diversionary tactics to shift the onus. There is no purpose to the various conspiracy theories doing the rounds in the media about the reasons for this attack other than diverting the peoples attention from the truth, he said.
