Manpreet office broken into,CM orders probe

Former finance minister Manpreet Singh Badals office in the Central Secretariat was ransacked by some unknown elements

Former finance minister Manpreet Singh Badals office in the Central Secretariat was ransacked by some unknown elements on Friday. Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has asked Chief Secretary S C Aggarwal to order an immediate inquiry,get the culprits identified and render exemplary punishment.

The lock of the door to the office occupied by Manpreet as finance minister was broken into on Friday,with files and other papers thrown around the floor in what appears to have been a search for something. The culprits allagedly also tried to retrieve information from the computers lying in the office.

The Chief Minister said that he and his government were committed to the highest democratic values,and all MLAs,regardless of political affiliations,enjoy a place of high dignity and respect in the system.

Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal too spoke to State ADGP Intelligence Suresh Arora and directed him to immediately identify the culprits.

He also asked the police chief to ensure that such incidents were not repeated.

Sukhbir also instructed DGP P S Gill to not tinker with the security apparatus provided to political persons,especially MLAs and MPs,and to ensure that no one gets the feeling that the government is keeping tabs on them.
