Man who killed Kerala cop found dead with wife

Mujeeb Rehman,who had been absconding since he shot dead a sub-inspector on Sunday afternoon in Keralas Malappuram district,was found dead in a village along with his wife on Monday morning.

Rahman had fired the fatal gunshot at sub-inspector Vijay Krishan when he had come to serve a warrant issued by a family court against him. The warrant was issued as a result of a complaint filed by his fourth wife,Ummaimath.

The police personnel who had been hunting for him stumbled upon bodies of Rahman and his third wife Kyarunnisa. The bodies were discovered in a rubber plantation and bore marks of bullet injuries.

The police said Rahman had committed suicide after killing his wife.

Rahman had fled to a nearby forest area after killing the sub-inspector and had taken along his two children who are now reported to be safe.

The elder son Dilshan told the police that the family had stayed in the forest during the night and he had been asked to return home early on Monday morning.

Rahman,who had married four women,had been leading a secluded life. He also possessed two guns without a valid licence.
