With investigations into spy scandal indicating that the arrested diplomat had started passing information to her Pakistani handlers way back in September 2008,one line of questioning by intelligence agencies has been with regard to the 26/11 Mumbai attack.

Madhuri Gupta, however, has told her interrogators that she had no inkling about the incident.

Top government sources told The Indian Express that all Guptas visit to India after she was posted in Islamabad in 2007 are now under the microscope as there is evidence to suggest that the diplomat was acting as a courier for the Pakistani intelligence and was not averse to using her diplomatic immunity to help them out. The agencies are now trying to trace out all those she met when she came back to India from Islamabad via Wagah by a car with diplomatic number plates or otherwise.

Meanwhile,Ramp;AW after in-house investigations and whetting of secret telegrams sent by Guptas boss R K Sharma has given the officer a clear chit for not being involved in the spy scandal.

Sources said efforts are on to ascertain if paths of Gupta and Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorist under trial in the US David Headley had crossed in the past. Headley had made to and fro visits to India and Pakistan since 2005 and there are reports that someone in the Indian mission helped his girlfriend Faiza Outlaha get Indian visa in 2008.
