The police have arrested six Lashkar-e-Toiba militants allegedly responsible for burning shrines in central Kashmir.

The police have arrested six militants involved in burning two religious places in Budgam district. Investigations revealed that the module was involved in the burning of shrines of Baba Hanief-ud-din at Ratsuna in Beerwah and a mosque in Narbal Magam, said a police spokesperson. The police said that one of the arrested militants has admitted to his role before a judicial magistrate.

They said that the militants were asked by their handlers in Pakistan to burn shrines so that it results in an agitation across the Valley.

Kashmir had witnessed massive protests over the burning of shrines at several places over the recent past.
