LeT commander killed

On Wednesday,the J-K Police cordoned off Puchul village following an input about a militants presence.

A Lashkar-e-Toiba LeT commander was on Thursday killed in an encounter with security forces in south Kashmirs Pulwama district. Significantly,for the first time in recent years,the villagers tried to break the security cordon to help the militant commander escape.

On Wednesday,the J-K Police cordoned off Puchul village following an input about a militants presence.

On Thursday,when the police closed in on the militant,the latter opened fire leading to an encounter.

When the villagers tried to intervene,the police cane-charged and lobbed teargas shells,injuring three protesters. The militant,Shakoor Ahmad Teli,was killed.
