Indian-American in US State Dept quits for pvt sector

Washington: Indian-American Richard Verma,Assistant Secretary of State for Legislative Affairs who played a key role in the US negotiations with Russia on the historic Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty,is leaving the State Department for private sector. The Secretary of State Hillary Clinton hosted a farewell for Verma.

Ex-Nepal PM Bhattarai dies

Kathmandu: Nepals former prime minister Krishna Prasad Bhattarai,the last of the countrys veteran leaders who founded Nepali Congress,passed away. Bhattarai,87,who played key role in drafting the Constitution of Nepal in 1990 that guaranteed constitutional monarchy and multi party democracy,died due to multiple organ failure.

Russian airliner crashes,killing 6

MOSCOW: Russian news reports say an Antonov-148 airliner crashed during a test flight,killing six people,

including two pilots from Myanmar. The reports citing officials in the Emergencies Ministry and the Investigative Committee said the crash took place Saturday morning in the Belgorod region,about 600 kilometers south of Moscow.
