Three tremors rock Valley in 24 hrs

SRINAGAR: The Kashmir valley witnessed three moderate intensity tremors over the past 24 hours. Aamir Ali,Coordinator,Disaster Management Cell,Kashmir,said two earthquakes measuring 4.7 on Richter scale were recorded on Saturday. While the epicenter of the first one,recorded at 9.24 am,was near Xinjiang on the Indo-China border in Ladakh,the epicenter of the second was in Tajikistan. On Friday evening,an earthquake of 4.9 magnitude was recorded. However,there were no reports of any loss of life or property.

Gadchiroli: 3 cops held for extortion

NAGPUR: Three cops and a surrendered Naxal were arrested on Saturday by Gadchiroli police in connection with an extortion case. Pintu Talandi and Ratan Gordunda from the anti-Naxal force Special Action Group and Deepak Atram from regular Gadchiroli police were arrested along with surrendered Naxal Rainu, said SP Veeresh Prabhu. A complaint had been registered against them at Kurkheda police station that they had extorted Rs 40,000 from a shopkeeper in Kadoli village.

Sai Baba ailing,CM sends expert team

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Saturday night directed Principal Secretary Health P V Ramesh to go to Puttaparthi along with a team of expert doctors to monitor the health of the ailing Satya Sai Baba. The spiritual guru had developed a breathing problem Friday night after being hospitalised at Puttaparti for lung and chest congestion last week.

Cgarh Governor,CM visit Tadmetla

RAIPUR: More than a fortnight after hutments of tribals were set ablaze during an encounter between the security forces and the Maoists,Chhattisgarh Governor Shekhar Dutt and Chief Minister Raman Singh and top civil and police officials on Saturday visited Tadmetla in Dantewada district. The Governor assured the people that the state government would extend all possible help to the people of all the three affected villages of Tadmetla,Timmapuram and Morpalli.
