ALTERING THEIR name’s spelling for good fortune is a common practice among public figures, especially politicians, but newly sworn-in BJP national president Nitin Nabin is a linguistically different case in point. A day after his formal appointment as the party chief, the BJP on Wednesday sent an “important message” to both Hindi and English print journalists regarding the “correct spelling” of the former Bihar minister’s name. While in Hindi his name is spelt “Nitin Navin”, the correct spelling in English is “Nitin Nabin”, the party said, adding that his name be spelt accordingly in future. Interestingly, most of the hoardings congratulating Nabin on his elevation put up by the BJP at its headquarters did not seem to be in line with this guideline.

Get, Set, Go

A day after he took charge as the national president of the BJP, Nitin Nabin on Wednesday hit the ground running, holding a 9-hour marathon meeting with national office-bearers, election in-charges, state presidents and the organisational secretaries and reviewing the party’s functioning in all the states. The meeting began at 9.30 am and went beyond 6 pm, said sources. Nabin sat throughout the meeting and listened to every leader; his predecessor J P Nadda joined them after a few hours. Party general secretary (Organisation) B L Santhosh was also present.

Mama now Dada

UNION AGRICULTURE Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and his family on Wednesday welcomed a new member to their household. Chouhan, who has earned sobriquet as “Mama” for his women-centric initiatives such as the ‘Ladli Laxmi Yojana’ during his tenure as Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, shared the news of his elder son Kartikeya and daughter-in-law Amanat being blessed with a baby girl on social media platform X. Expressing happiness, he said their home has been blessed with a “Ladli Laxmi”and he has now become a “dada (grandfather)”.
