BJP veteran and former chief minister Keshubhai Patel on Sunday came out in support of Sanjay Joshi, who quit the party on Friday, while criticising the treatment meted out him by the party.
Joshi who is committed and dedicated party worker should not have been treated in such a humiliating manner, Patel said while addressing Adivasi Adhikar Garjan Sammelan at Kankodakoi village in Ghangora taluka of the Panchmahals district.
Such a situation has been created that nobody is allowed to speak. But what was Sanjay Joshis fault? He had said nothing8230;, he said, adding,Nobody can lock my mouth and stop me from expressing my views under the guise of party discipline as enough is enough and I will not keep my mouth shut.
Patel, who has earlier criticised the government saying people across the state were living in fear, came out openly against Modi, terming the confidence shown by him in Rajkot of winning the next Assembly polls was a reaction of an artificial injection.
Criticising the governments anti-tribal and pro-corporate policies,he appealed to the public to bring about a change in the government. Without taking Modis name,he said tribal welfare had been neglected under the BJP government.
Patel further criticised the government for rolling out red carpet for Tata Motors Nano plant in Sanand and handing over 1.5 lakh hectares of village grazing land to industrialists in the state.
Tribal regions are being deprived of Narmada water and it is affecting agriculture in the region. Also, they are asking money for education in the name of self-financed institutes8230; The government has given away only four cycles in a year against the promised one lakh. As many as two lakh acres of grazing land have been gifted to the corporates, the Modi-baiter told a gathering of nearly 2,000 tribals.
The rally was attended by former chief minister Suresh Mehta,ex-minister Nalin Bhatt, and MahaGujarat Janata Party MJP office-bearers,including Parliamentary Board head Fakirbhai Chauhan and regional secretary Jaikant Patel.
Modi attacks UPA: growth not possible amid scams
RAJKOT: As the BJP executive meet came to an end here on Sunday,Chief Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on the UPA government and raised issues of scams, policy paralysis and falling growth rate. Addressing the media on Sunday,Modi said: Aa karnamaona kamthan ma vikas kyanthi thai How can there be development amid all these scams?. He came down heavily on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, saying his government was caught unaware about the huge fall in GDP. The CM credited Gujarat for motivating other states to have development-driven polls. Perhaps nowhere a state party meet has assumed so much importance, he said. In an apparent reference to the anti-Modi campaign being led by former CM Keshubhai Patel and other BJP rebels by playing the Patel caste card,he said: Caste politics has destroyed states. Look what has happened in UP and Bihar.
Modi is a political terrorist: Congress
New Delhi/Surat: Stung by comparison to a sinking ship, the Congress on Sunday hit back at Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi calling him a political terrorist and accused him of making wild allegations to divert attention from real issues in the poll-bound state. Modi is a terrorist in the political arena, Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee GPCC president Arjun Modhwadia said in Surat while reacting to the speech by Modi at the state BJPs executive meeting at Rajkot, where he had criticised the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre. In Delhi,Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari said the only boat that is slam dunked in water is the BJP because of all the loose canons that are rolling wildly at its deck. The Congress attacked the BJP saying that it should answer questions related to its governance in Gujarat rather than target the Centre.
