Himesh Reshammiya does it again 8211; shows his penchant for daring novelty, composes ethnic songs, raags and folks and brings back in a big way the acoustic unplugged sound and instruments like tabla, dholka, sarangi and sitar.
Most tracks are daringly anti-trend,and standing out is the haunting Teriyan meriyan Himesh-Shreya. The other track that gives us a fresh, almost auditorium concert-like feel is Saanu guzara zamana yaad aa gaya Himesh-Sunidhi where we see a blend of Himeshs style with a clear-cut integration of both Ghulam Alis and Rabbi Shergils leitmotif. But though the score may work,Himesh also repeats his recent mistakes 8211; he makes the tunes complicated, the lyrics gimmicky and staccato in phrasing, the singing ditto and finally, the repetitions start marring the appeal and efforts in the melodies. These areas should be instantly addressed for his longevity.
