Diversified group ITC on Friday posted a 26.7 per cent jump in its net profit at Rs 1,144.17 crore for the third quarter ended December 31,2009,compared with the same period last fiscal.
The company had a net profit of Rs 903.21 crore in the third quarter ended December 31,2008,ITC said in a filing to the BSE During the quarter under review,the companys net sales stood at Rs 4,531.85 crore,up 18.2 per cent from Rs 3,833.31 crore recorded in the year-ago period.
ITC,however,said revenue from its hotel business remained flat at Rs 247 crore as a result of weak global economic recovery. While the performance of the hotel business has improved sequentially,it is still caught in the throes of a weak recovery momentum, it said. The company also said its paperboards,paper and packaging category posted growth of 29 per cent at Rs 811.80 crore on the back of higher capacity utilisation,lower input costs and significant value capture in pulp mill operations.
