Infiltration bid foiled,soldier killed

An Army soldier was killed in North Kashmirs Gurez sector as troopers foiled an infiltration bid near the LoC. This is the first infiltration attempt by militants through the Gurez sector.

Army said that the infiltrators were engaged by the soldiers close to the LoC when they tried to sneak into the Valley through Gurez sector. At the RC post in Gurez,the soldiers found some suspicious movement. When the soldiers challenged the infiltrators,they fired on the troops resulting in an encounter, Defence spokesman J S Brar said . He said one soldier was killed in the exchange of fire.
