With intelligence inputs warning of possible terror strikes ahead of the Republic Day,an alert was raised after a flying object was spotted near the India-Pakistan border at the IAF base in Nalia taluka of Kutch district. But after the procedural scramble, the object was found it to be that of the IAF.

The incident took place around 6 pm on Sunday when radars at the Nalia Air Force base picked up signals from a flying object in Indian air space, said defence PRO M G Mehta. Personnel at the air base were alerted in anticipation of some hostile activity. However, within a few minutes the flying object was identified as one of our own, officials added.

According to reports, two fighters were scrambled to intercept the flying object. The PRO,however, did not comment on the aspect. Mehta refused to give details of the flying object for security reasons.
