House panel for early passage of education Bills

The Ministry of Human Resource Development found support for its many crucial pending Bills for reforms in higher education

The Ministry of Human Resource Development HRD on Wednesday found support for its many crucial pending Bills for reforms in higher education, with the Parliamentary Standing Committee on HRD expressing concern over the inordinate delay in their passage.

The committee, incidentally, had initially criticised the ministry for rushing its Bills to Parliament without adequate consultation or homework.

Noting that considerable time had elapsed since parliamentary scrutiny of the at least five higher education Bills was completed, the panel,in its report on the Demand for Grants 2012-13 of the Department of Higher Education, said it was of the firm view that passing of these legislative proposals need not be delayed further.
