Hope to solve deadlock in 4-5 days: Bhargava

We have been talking to them for the last three days.

Maruti Suzuki India today said it expects an end to the ongoing labour problems at its Manesar plant in the next 4-5 days, despite talks in the past three days with workers failing to bring in any positive outcome.

We have been talking to them for the last three days. We keep talking as solution in these things take some time. I cannot say when, but only I can hope that the issues will be solved in the next 4-5 days, Maruti Suzuki India MSI chairman R C Bhargava said.

When asked about the production loss,he said the company is rolling out cars at 50 per cent of its strength from its two facilities in Manesar and Gurgaon.

Production will gradually go up. More people will start working at Manesar, Bhargava said. As per a company statement, the number of workers at Manesar went up to 600 today from 400 yesterday. Asked if the forthcoming board meeting on October 29 will decide on setting up its third new facility,Bhargava said: It will decide on only purchase of land and investment regarding this.

There were reports that the board may approve setting up of the new facility outside Haryana, possibly in Gujarat.

Earlier, talking to NDTV,Bhargava said the company is happy with Haryana governments handling of the situation and will not move out of the state, where MSI has been operating since its inception in 1983.

Meanwhile, the Centre today asked the Haryana government to take steps to ensure that the strike at the Manesar plant ends soon and ruled out any direct intervention. The state government has the jurisdiction. They have to act. Not the Central government, Union Labour Minister Mallikarjun Kharge said,a day after negotiations between workers and company management broke down.
