Rekha took the oath as Rajya Sabha member recently. Accompanied by the Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Rajiv Shukla,she met the Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh,who is the Leader of the Rajya Sabha before taking the oath. She was nominated to the Upper House on April 26 along with Sachin Tendulkar. There was excitement outside Parliament House and in the corridors as she arrived.

Out of action

Nana Patekar was down with malaria and so the sequel to Ab Tak Chappan is on hold. The actor who was feeling extremely weak was even admitted to a hospital. He was discharged after the completion of the treatment as he was recuperating very well. He may resume shooting for producer Ram Gopal Varmas film based on the lives of police officials from the infamous Encounter Squad soon. The shooting was delayed for merely two days.

Sad loss

The body of 14 year old Taruni Sachdev was brought to Mumbai from Kathmandu through cargo along with her mother Geetas body. The funeral took place at a cremation ground in Santa Cruz West. Taruni,who was last seen in the Amitabh Bachchan-starrer Paa,was on her way to Nepal for a pilgrimage with her mother,when their aircraft crashed into a hill while landing at Jomsom airport in west Nepal.

Banned

Shah Rukh Khan,co-owner of Kolkata Knight Riders KKR,has been banned from entering Mumbais Wankhede Stadium for five years for misbehaving with the security and officials of the Mumbai Cricket Association MCA and violating its rules after KKRs victory over Mumbai Indians recently. However,West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee has appealed to MCA to reconsider the ban on the actor who is the brand ambassador of West Bengal.

In trouble

Nargis Fakhris comment on Waiting to become a lesbian hasnt gone down well with the gay community. Gay rights activists and members of LGBT lesbian,gay,bisexual and transgender rights groups are all up in arms against the actress saying that she has cracked a bad joke and has made a mockery of lesbians. The actress,however,defended herself saying that she was tired of being bombarded with questions about her relationships.

Bail granted

Action director Tinu Verma recently surrendered at a railway court in Jaipur in connection with a case for stopping a train near Narena-Phulena during the shooting of Bajrang in 1997 starring Sunny Deol and Karisma Kapur. The then station master had lodged a case for illegally stopping the train for 25 minutes. After Verma surrendered before magistrate Rajesh Chandra Gupta,he was sent to lock up and later released on bail.
