Onions outweighing all other issues on her mind, guess who offered a ray of hope to Delhi Chief Minister Shiela Dikshit? Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithivraj Chavan. He called her up to suggest that she depute a team of officials to Nashik and work out a system for a daily bulk lifting of onions selling at Rs 40 a kg and their transportation to Delhi with an additional carriage cost of Rs 10. If all goes well, the Capital may see a big relief. And,so may Dikshit.

THE REPLACEMENT
The recent appointment of Sanjay Kumar Mishra,an Indian Revenue Services IRS officer,in the Ministry of Home Affairs MHA has raised many eyebrows in the corridors of power. Mishra, who was earlier joint secretary Foreign Tax and Tax Research in Income Tax department, was given the much sought after post of joint secretary Border Management in the MHA soon after joining. He was first tipped to get the post of joint secretary police-I,which looks after deputation of IPS officers and is also considered to be a high profile job. The recent move has caused a flutter in the ministry where most of the joint secretaries are IAS. Mishra replaced Bhagwan Shankar,a Sikkim cadre IAS officer, who held charge of Border Management for less than three months.
MANNA DEY FAN
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh may have had a fruitful visit to China, but insiders say he was quite upset and saddened on hearing about his favourite singer Manna Deys death. Singh apparently is quite a Manna Dey fan with the number Laaga Chunari Mein Daag being among his top favourites.
