Gunmen shoot dead two senior officers in Yemen

Sanaa: Gunmen shot dead two senior Yemeni officers in separate ambushes on their cars on Sunday,security sources said. It was not immediately known who the gunmen were but Yemeni officials have blamed a string of similar killings on Islamist militants affiliated to al Qaeda. Reuters

UN: Afghanistan slow to enforce women law

Kabul: The UN complained Sunday that Afghan authorities have been slow in enforcing a law protecting women against forced marriages,domestic violence and rape. Afghanistan enacted its Elimination of Violence Against Women law in August 2009. AP
