Govt to bring law on public procurement

Accepting a number of recommendations of the VK Dhall committee,the government has decided to bring a new legislation on public procurement.

Accepting a number of recommendations of the VK Dhall committee,the government has decided to bring a new legislation on public procurement in the Winter Session of Parliament.

Government managers said the Group of Ministers on corruption headed by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee met Tuesday and took the decision to institutionalise procurement processes through law,which will go a long way in curbing corruption in the government sector. Departments like the Railways,Defence as well as CPWD procure goods and services running into thousands of crores.
