Samsung Electronics today launched its ‘phablet’ Galaxy Note II in India,saying it is planning to rake in 10 to 15 per cent of its sales in the Indian market from the Note range.
Asim Warsi,vice president,Samsung Mobile said the product would become available from October,and for now the company plans to sell Note II through its own stores.
“We launched first Note almost a year back and sold about 10 million pieces so far. While we expect about 10-15 per cent of the India sales to accrue from the Note products,the launch of new Galaxy Note II is also expected to help expand the high-end smartphones market in the country,” Warsi said.
Samsung currently has about 49 per cent share in the smartphones market,he added.
Galaxy Note II was launched in Korea on Wednesday and India is the second country to see the product,ahead of a scheduled launch in the UK later.
Note II features a 5.5″ (140.9mm) HD Super Amoled screen,a 1.6 GHz quad-core processor,and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system. Samsung claims it would offer enhanced performance in content creation,sharing and multitasking.

The company today launched Galaxy Note II,priced at Rs 39,900.
The company has two other devices in the Galaxy portfolio — Galaxy Note (Rs 29,990) and Galaxy Note 800 (Rs 37,900).
The Galaxy Note II features a 5.5-inch HD Super AMOLED screen,1.6 GHz quad-core processor,8 Megapixel rear-facing,1.9 megapixel front-facing camera and is powered Android’s Jelly Bean operating system.
