A former RSS activist from Chhatarpur was arrested Sunday in connection with an SMS threatening to kill Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
The Chief Minister was set to arrive in Chhatarpur as part of his Jan Ashirwad Yatra when the text message threatening to shoot him was received by senior police and administration officials on September 5.
The SIM from which the text message was sent was traced to Ram Kushwah, who said he was innocent. The SIM vendors questioning led police to Jaikumar Kushwah who was once Nagar Sharirik Pramukh of Chhatarpur town. The in-charge of Kotwali police station,K S Thakur, said the 30-year-old admitted that he had an old enmity with his uncle Ram Kushwah and wanted to implicate him. The accused thought the police would immediately arrest his uncle without much investigation because the CM was set to arrive within a few hours. He had sent the text messages even to former district collector and former sub-divisional magistrate. ENS
