Ex-Home secy: Centre has no control over welfare schemes

Speculation is rife that BJP may field Singh,a potential MP candidate, from Ara or from his home turf Supaul.

Newly-inducted BJP leader and former Union home secretary R K Singh Friday said the PM and Congress had “no control” over welfare schemes being implemented at district and block levels.

Singh, who joined the Bihar unit of the BJP,also attacked CM Nitish Kumar for not being able to control corruption, especially in “transfers and postings of superintendents and deputy superintendents of police”.

Singh said he chose BJP over JD(U) because they alone were capable of taking care of “internal and external” security. “I said no to Nitish Kumar’s offer for advisor to the CM because of his inclinations towards Congress,” he said. “My experience at the Centre made me realise that top ministers had no knowledge of schemes at district and block levels. They talk of aam aadmi without caring to know about implementation.”
