The Power Minister said about 2.10 crore households have already connected and eight states have achieved 100 per cent saturation (in household electrification)-- Madhya Pradesh, Tripura, Bihar, Jammu & Kashmir, Mizoram, Sikkim, Telangana and West Bengal.
EV charging infrastructure is required to boost EVs in the country. India intends to have a sizeable share of EVs in the vehicle strength by 2030, which is in line with its commitment to reduce emission intensity by one third from the level of 2005.
While the RBI hasn’t yet indicated any relaxation of its circular, the finance ministry, sources said, will soon write to it and other stakeholders, including power producers, convening a meeting to find a resolution.
Under Samadhan — which stands for the Scheme of Asset Management and Debt Change Structure — the bankers’ consortium shortlisted 11 power plants with an overall capacity of over 12 gigawatts, which are either complete or nearing completion.
