Errors in charges,say 3 accused

Three accused in the 2G case R K Chandolia,Shahid Usman Balwa and Asif Balwa today moved an application before the Special CBI Court seeking alteration of charges framed against them,saying there were contradictions and errors which needed to be corrected to ensure a fair trial.

The accused stated that the October 22 order does not specify the manner in which various offences were committed. Therefore,it becomes difficult to ascertain who has the responsibility for the substantive charge.

The manner in which various offences have been committed is not set out in the charge in accordance with the illustration of Section 213 Cr PC in order to give the applicant/ accused sufficient notice of the matter with which he is charged and is required to be specified, said their plea.

The matter has been posted for hearing on November 25.
