A feud between two groups of students of Amity University on Delhi-Jaipur highway turned violent after seven first-year B-Tech students stabbed a senior

A feud between two groups of students of Amity University on Delhi-Jaipur highway turned violent on Tuesday night after seven first-year B-Tech students stabbed a senior,Prashant Veer Singh,to death. According to police,Singh was first beaten near the Amity University main gate and then one of the accused stabbed him with a knife in his stomach.

Jaipur rural SP Sawai Singh told The Indian Express that Prashant 22 was stabbed on Tuesday night and seven students were arrested on Wednesday.

There seems to have been some longstanding fight between the groups, which is still under investigation. The seven juniors first beat Singh up and then one of them stabbed him, he said, adding that the accused and the victim were all students of the Amity Universitys B-Tech department.

Senior police officials said the fight,on Tuesday night, lasted minutes after which Singhs assailants fled. Guards outside the gate informed the authorities and Singh was rushed to NIMS hospital, but was declared dead on arrival.

Sources said students and perhaps some faculty members knew of the tension between Singh and his attackers, but nobody thought it would lead to murder.

Chandwaji police, who registered the FIR,said the accused included Puneet,Anurag,Chirag,Ajay,Abhimanyu,Vineet and Gaurav, all between 19 and 21 years. The victim,Prashantveer Singh hailed from Bijnor in Uttar Pradesh.
