EC briefs observers

The Election Commission Monday held a briefing for observers to apprise them about their role and responsibilities in ensuring free and fair forthcoming elections in five states.

The Commission today held a briefing for 1,200 observers. The Commission will appoint 531 general observers,178 expenditure observers and 89 police observers, the EC said.

At the briefing by CEC S Y Quraishi and Election Commissioners V S Sampath and H S Bramha,the observers were asked to look into force deployment plan,among other things.
