Doctors strike: 12 officials dismissed

The Rajasthan government dismissed two chief medical and health officers and 10 principal medical officers even as the doctors strike across the state entered the sixth day

The Rajasthan government dismissed two chief medical and health officers and 10 principal medical officers on Monday even as the doctors strike across the state entered the sixth day.

While Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot remained determined not to give in,stating that public angst against doctors was increasing,back-channel talks between government representatives and doctors remained unsuccessful.

Addressing a public rally in Udaipur today,Gehlot said: If the strike continues in this fashion,it may lead to extreme circumstances where the government might find it hard to maintain the law and order situation, particularly the publics anger against doctors. I urge all doctors to resume work at the soonest as patients are the primary concern for doctors and the government.

While the government has arrested close to 400 doctors across Rajasthan, nearly 20,000 employees under the National Rural Health Mission who supported the doctors stir ended their strike on Monday.
