Hours after BJPs prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi asked the UPA government to come out with a performance report of its nine-year-old rule and equated the next Lok Sabha elections with the one held after Emergency, the Congress hit back with its general secretary Digvijaya Singh daring Modi to enter into a debate on governance and development.
Singh also called Modi Feku,a description Congress supporters routinely use on social media to deride the Gujarat Chief Minister. After Modi addressed the Indian diaspora in the US through video conference and told them growth rate during NDA regime was 8.4 per cent, which had come down to 4.8 per cent now,Singh said,Feku Modi at his best. Giving fake figures of growth during NDA regime.
In an apparent reference to Modis argument that people of India will change their fortune in the next general election,Singh tweeted good to hear Modi talking about Inclusive Politics. But can a leopard change its spots?
Referring to Modis mention of Atal Bihari Vajpayee and performance of NDA in his speech,Singh reminded him of Vajpayees famous advise to Modi to follow Raj dharma in the aftermath of the 2002 riots.
Daring Modi for a debate,Singh tweeted. Parliament attacked by terrorists…Terrorists were released because thousands were killed in communal riots? Because rules were bent to favour the favourites? Because of Bangaru Laxman caught on camera? The list can go on. Would Modi have the courage to debate with one of us on issues of Governance Development and other National Issues? Singh pointed out that the UPA government has come out with its report card every year and on every issue. Would Modi pl get his team to look at the UPA Govt website instead of abusing? he tweeted. Arguing that the Congress has empowered people,he alleged Modi only wanted to empower himself.
