Curfew imposed in Moradabad

Over nine shops and several vehicles were torched in the violence and 22 persons were injured in the clash.

Curfew has been imposed in six police station areas of Moradabad to control the communal violence that sparked off on Tuesday night,leading to arson and firing by members of two communities.

Over nine shops and several vehicles were torched in the violence and 22 persons were injured in the clash. One of the critically injured victim has been referred to the Loknayak Hospital in Delhi.

Special DGP Law amp; Order Brij Lal said no incident of violence has been reported from the affected parts of the district since afternoon.

Rapid Action Force and PAC personnel have been deployed in six police station areas Katghar,Machhaula,Mughulpura,Nagphani,Gulshaheed and City Kotwali.

The Tuesday night tension was a sequel to the violence by a group of Kanwariyas on Saturday night when the route of their procession was diverted in Katghar area due to the month of Ramzan.
