It depends on how a director can negotiate with the producer. It also depends on how many hits the director has given before. If the director has not had a hit,he is vulnerable and ready to negotiate to anything.

There is no creative freedom at all for filmmakers who are working on a tight budget. Only if the director is powerful like Sanjay Bhansali,Vishal Bhardwaj or Farah Khan can he or she put their feet down and get things done the way they want. Conversely,if the filmmaker has a big star in his film he will get some freedom. Otherwise,he is controlled by the producer.
