To prevent clashes and protests over the killing of a youth in Baramulla town,curfew was imposed in old city and four townships of Kashmir. Dozens of people including eight policemen sustained injuries in the clashes across the Valley. A big protest demonstration was taken out in old Baramulla town over the killing of post-graduate student in the town by the Army on Tuesday. The protesters demanded action against the guilty Army personnel. Soon after protest ended,youths pelted stones at the police deployments at three places in the town. Protesters also clashed with the police at Sangrama,Khwajabagh,Palahalan in North Kashmir and broke window panes of dozens of vehicles plying on the national highway. In Batamaloo,police fired teargas shells on the protesters who raised anti-India slogans. Protests were also held in old city and youths pelted stones on police and CRPF personnel. Protesters also clashed with police at Trehgam and other towns of Kupwara district. A police spokesman termed the situation in the Valley by and large peaceful,but said,miscreants pelted stones in some areas. He said a curfew was imposed in old parts of the city,Kulgam,Baramulla,Trehgam and Sopore towns.
