CBI questions Niira Radia

CBI questioned former corporate lobbyist Niira Radia last week in connection with its probe related to her tapped phone talks.

The CBI questioned former corporate lobbyist Niira Radia last week in connection with its probe related to her tapped phone talks with industrialists and others.

The agency said Radia was questioned for two days in connection with four preliminary enquiries PEs registered against her and others,with regard to 14 issues identified by the Supreme Court.

One PE related to her conversation with Pradip Baijal,ex-chief of TRAI,pertaining to his appointment as Chairman of the Pipeline Advisory Committee to allegedly favour Reliance. Another PE against Radia,unknown officials of her company Vaishnavi and unknown officials of BHEL was in connection with alleged payment of commission for clearing bills from the public sector undertaking.

Another PE was related to alleged middlemen and kickbacks in the aviation sector against Radia,Ramesh Nambiar,a former Air India official,Deepak Talwar and unknown officials of Ministry of Civil Aviation.
