Less than a week after a Territorial Army jawan deserted the force and reportedly joined Lashkar-e-Toiba in the hilly Doda district,the Jammu and Kashmir Police have launched a hunt for a Border Security Force (BSF) jawan who has been missing from his residence in Rajouri district since Wednesday.

Identified as 26-year-old Mohammad Farooq,a resident of Chaudhry Nar near Rajouri town,the missing jawan had left home for taking a bath at the nearby spring Wednesday morning. When he did not return for quite some time,his family members went to the natural spring only to find his towel and a bucket there.

Married and father of a three-year-old,Farooq had come home on a month-long leave a fortnight ago,the police said. The police have registered a case and have started investigations.

Meanwhile,Army troops and the police have constituted separate teams to track down the Territorial Army jawan,Zaffarullah Khan,who had escaped along with three assault rifles and ammunition from his unit (159 TA) from Doda on March 8.

A resident of Bela village in Doda district,he is reported to have joined the Lashkar. His brother,Mohammad Hanief,is a Lashkar militant who is currently believed to be in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
