China Thursday said the al-Qaeda linked East Turkistan Islamic Movement.

Beijing: China Thursday said the al-Qaeda linked East Turkistan Islamic Movement,which wants to establish an Islamic state in restive Xinjiang province,was behind the October 28 suicide car crash at the Tiananmen square. “I want to say that the East-Turkistan terrorists,in order to achieve the goal of splitting China and establishing a so-called East Turkishtan Islamic state in Xinjiang have long been involved in anti-China terror activities ,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said. Four Turkish MPs attend parliament in head scarves

ANKARA: Four female lawmakers from Turkey’s Islamist-rooted ruling party wore Islamic head scarves in parliament Thursday in a challenge to the country’s secular tradition. Fellow Justice and Development Party (AKP) lawmakers kissed and hugged the women as they took their seats in the general assembly.

Indian couple drowns in Bhutan lake

Thimphu: An Indian couple died after drowning in the Mebartsho Lake,popularly known as The Burning Lake in Bhutan. The couple,hailing from Kolkata were backpackers,who had come to visit Bhutan via Phuentsholing with a special permit. There were no eye-witnesses to the incident. PTI

Pak arrests 18 for killing foreign climbers

Islamabad: Pakistani officials Thursday said they had arrested 18 people allegedly involved in killing 10 foreign climbers in the Himalayan region of Gilgit-Baltistan. The Jundul Hafsa,a faction of the Taliban,had claimed responsibility for the June 22 attack at the base camp of Nanga Parbat in Diamer district. PTI
