NEW YORK: Indian-American designer Anand Jon,accused of rape by several women including minors,got reprieve from a Manhattan court after the judge dismissed some of the charges against him. The Manhattan judge dismissed charges against Jon,by three of his accusers,The New York Post reported. Jons lawyer said the charges dismissed involved women who knew him Jon longest.

TVNZ bosses say sorry to Guv Gen

MELBOURNE: Top bosses of New Zealands state-owned TV channel,whose former host Paul Henry had made racial remarks against Indian-origin Governor General Anand Satyanand,have apologised to the leader. TVNZs Chairman John Anderson and CEO Rick Ellis called on Satyanand and apologised over the Henry episode,the channel said on Thursday. Satyanand very graciously accepted the apology,it said. Henry had also mocked the name of Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit.

Greek riot police storm Acropolis

ATHENS: Riot police Thursday stormed the Acropolis to break up a blockade by culture ministry staff. The police broke into the monument perimetre and pursued dozens of protesters,television footage showed. The union representing temporary culture ministry staff began the blockade Tuesday to protest the imminent dismissal of 320 employees whose contracts expire at the end of month.
