Landmine swept ashore from North kills S Korean

SEOUL: Dozens of landmines have washed up on South Korean shores over the weekend,apparently swept down from North Korea by torrential rains. One killed a man and wounded another,the military said Sunday. The two men discovered two mines in wooden boxes floating in a river while they were fishing near the border with North Korea on Saturday night,according to an officer with the Joint Chiefs of Staff. One mine exploded while they were carrying them home.

Dutch are 1st in NATO to quit Afghanistan

KABUL: The Netherlands became the first NATO country to end its combat mission in Afghanistan,drawing the curtain Sunday on a four-year operation. 2 held for sending parcel bomb to MI6

LONDON: British police have arrested two men believed to be of Pakistani origin after a homemade parcel bomb was sent to the headquarters of intelligence service MI6 and a second was found at a postal sorting office. The men,aged 52 and 21,were arrested at separate addresses in Caernarfon on Friday Daily Mail reported. The unidentified men were arrested under Section 4 of the Explosives Act.

China launches its fifth orbiter into space

BEIJING: China on Sunday successfully launched its fifth orbiter into space as part of its indigenous satellite navigation and positioning network. The satellite was launched from the Long March 3I carrier rocket. The satellite will join another four satellites in orbit to form a network that will eventually consist of 35 satellites,the official Xinhua news agency reported.

The 41-year-old actress is close to signing a deal to appear in the comedy about older women on the prowl for younger men,reported Entertainment Weekly online. Their Friends co-star Lisa Kudrow also completed a stint on Cougar Town,playing an aggressive dermatologist who comes up against Coxs character.
