116 rapes: China man appeals death

BEIJING: A Chinese farmer has appealed the death sentence he was given for raping 116 women,China Daily reported Tuesday. Dai Qingcheng,46,was given the death penalty in December for raping the women between 1993 and 2009 in Anhui province.

BEIJING: A man stabbed and wounded six people in Chinas far west before killing himself by slitting his throat,a news report and a local official said Tuesday. Xinhua news agency said the man,who was in his 20s,attacked six people with a knife and scissors in Kashgar city in Xinjiang,a region rocked by ethnic violence.
