11 killed after angry man sets elderly home in China on fire
Beijing: Eleven people were Friday charred to death when an inhabitant of a senior citizens nursing home set fire to the facility in a row over 32 in northeast China. The blaze ripped through the nursing home in the early hours at the in-patient building of the Lianhe Senior Nursing Home in Heilongjiang province,Xinhua reported. Wang Gui,45,who set the building on fire,was also killed. PTI
Pink Panther jewel thief escapes Swiss prison
GENEVA: A member of the notorious Pink Panther jewel thief gang has escaped from a Swiss prison after accomplices rammed a gate and fired at guards,police said Friday. Milan Poparic,34,fled with fellow inmate Adrian Albrecht,52,from the Orbe prison in the western canton of Vaud late Thursday,according to police.
Indian pair arrested in Thailand for smuggling

Washington: The Lincoln Memorial,an iconic landmark in the US capital,was vandalised Friday,forcing authorities to shut down the popular tourist attraction until it was cleaned up. Police were alerted to the scene just before 1:30 am and found green paint splattered on the leg and base of the statue of Americas 16th president,he said.
